The Committee and Leaders of 14th Broadstairs Scout Group would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Wow, what a year 2011 was, didn’t see that one coming! We had to move home after 20+ years at Bromstone and have now settled in at St Georges School. Hopefully the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts found the second half term a lot more organised than the first half, it was all a bit chaotic to begin with but we are slowly making it home.

When the decision was made to move we really didn’t dream that it would all be done in two days. The shed was emptied on the Thursday night, everything moved on Saturday and the shed gone by Sunday. It would not have happened without all the help from the Parents so once again a huge, huge thank you to everyone that turned up and did their bit.

Not RobinSo what else did we get up to in 2011? There was our group camp at Minster with it’s flight theme. You made kites and models, played on flight simulators, had a birds of prey display along with various other flight themed activities. Beavers, you had your Victorian Sleepover, the County day at Quex and an amazing Beaver Splash. Cubs, you ‘kipped on a ship’, had a Medieval Camp at Kingsdown and had a ‘Hells Kitchen’ Sleepover were you gained your Chefs badge. Scouts, you had Scout Camp at Walton Firs and again achieved amazing results in the District Competitions this year, the highlights being first in the Cross Country,  first and second in the Raft Race for the second year in a row and all three first places in the competitions on the ADUTT weekend. All in all another great year for 14th Broasdstairs Scout Group and we couldn’t do it without all the extra help we get, thank you.

2011 also saw 14th Broadstairs move online, we now have our website and you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

So what will 2012 bring? Well it all starts again with the Scouts at the National Pedal Car Olympics second weekend of January (thank you to Rikki and Kaa for stepping in so we can still take our four teams). 2012 is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee so there will be Group, District and County Events taking place. Then in the summer is the big one when the eyes of the world will be on Britain and they will be asking the question ‘can 14th Broadstairs take first and second place in the Raft Race for the third year in a row?’ or maybe it will be ‘will Bolt smash another world record in the 100m at the Olympics?’. I know which one I’ll be hoping for!

So Beavers, Cubs and Scouts get ready for 2012 it looks like it’s going to be another busy one.

We return after the Christmas break on the 5th January.

Have a great Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
