Remembrance Day 2025
This year, the Group once again came together to support the Royal British Legion and honour those who gave their lives in service. In the days leading up to Remembrance Sunday, our young people and leaders took part in the annual poppy campaign, helping with poppy sales and bag‑packing at Asda Broadstairs. Thanks to the generosity of the local community — and the enthusiasm of our volunteers — more than £1,400 was raised.
Across the sections, our young people also spent time learning about remembrance and creating their own tributes. The Beavers made handmade poppies, while the Cubs crafted Tommy soldiers to display in their windows. The Cubs also created several wreaths, which were laid on four war graves in St Peter’s Cemetery, paying respects to:

Private J. Bunce – Royal Ordnance Corps

Private Geraghty – Manchester Regiment

Gunner J. H. Byng – Royal Field Artillery

The Unknown Sailor – Royal Navy
On Remembrance Sunday, the whole Group came together to parade at St Peter’s Church, joining the wider community in a moment of reflection and gratitude. It was a meaningful and thoughtful occasion, and we are proud of the way our young people represented the values of Scouting throughout the remembrance period.
