All of the Beavers gathered at the Turner Contemporary to show off their artistic talents and work towards their outdoor challenge badge. After a few warm up activities, the children were split into 2 groups. They were shown a colourful box with multiple holes in it and they had to feel what was inside, without looking and describe what it was they were feeling to the other children.
the groups were then split down again into individual pairs and the children were asked to create a landscape using the items they had felt in the box. These items consisted of string, buttons, blocks, foam etc. The children then set to work and the look of concentration on some of their faces was intense.
Once they had finished creating their landscape, the children were asked to describe what their work represented (at this point I must stress their were a lot of puzzled faces).
All of the children enjoyed being creative, and at the end of the session, when Keeo instructed the children to tidy up the mess they had made, it was met with the response from one of the representatives “don’t worry darling, this is art!!”
