This weekend our Beaver Scouts & Cub Scouts attended the 2012 Funday at Gilwell Park. An early start on Saturday morning set the Beavers and Cubs on their way for a fun day at Gillwell. After a very smooth journey we arrived at gillwell, changed into shorts, as the sun was actually shining, and set off on a day of adventure.
The children were split into groups, the Beavers with their leaders and the Cubs on their own with leaders spying nearby! There was a wide range of activities on offer; bouncy castles, fairground rides, climbing, archery, zip wire, art and craft, grass sledges, sumo wrestling as well as food stores (with fantastic doughnuts!) and a shop with badges and other scouting items. Ryan managed to get stung by what his group described as an ‘obese bee’ but suffered no long term effects. The same cannot be said for the bee who suffered the wrath of Presley’s trainer!
All the children enjoyed themselves and made the most of their day, luckily the rain did not arrive until we set off on our journey home, tired but very happy!
