It was an early start for 6 of our older Beavers and Leaders Chatter and Squirrel as we met at Minster Campsite for what would be our first (and for some of us, our last) night under canvas.
The theme was Pirates and once changed into our bright green T-shirts all of the children took part in a number of activities including, cooking on an open fire, bouncy castles, a rope bridge, glitter tattoo’s, making pirate hats and eye patches, guessing where treasure was buried, crocodile pegs, making treasure maps, icing biscuits, group games and the climbing wall!
After all this, the Beavers were hungry and so tucked into their evening meal before heading out on a hike around the county side. Whilst on the hike, the children had to be observant and search for hidden letters along the track; these letters eventually would spell out the location of the hidden treasure!
Once the excitement was over it was time for some campfire songs around a real campfire with our camp blankets and teddies! Once finished we all enjoyed some hot chocolate and cake before changing into our pyjamas and climbing in to our sleeping bags in our tents!
The next morning we was up bright and breezy, changing into out Pirate costumes ready to run around and play some group games. the sleepover was a great success and the children had a fabulous time and were all looking forward to sleeping in a tent again …… as for the Leaders …… I’m not sure they’re so keen especially Chatter!!
